| World to Israel: Drop Dead | ||||||||
| Ignoring facts and reason, The U.N. issued this resoultion . Now, I am opposed, philosophically, to the wall that Israel has built. But the pragmatic end of me says, "a 95% drop in terrorism...hmmm..." Which leads me to this stale mate mentally. Apparently facts get in the way of making a decision. Had I been some kind of representative in the U.N. assembly hall, I would have abstained, myself. However much I believe in the U.N., it occurs to me that no matter what Israel does, it will be wrong. I mean, Arafat and his cohorts have been quoted (as far back as '48) saying that if Israel exists, they'll finish what Hitler started. And the world is much more Arab than it is anything else, at this point But a wall? Okay, so it sucks in theory. But the fact remains, that is only a wall in maybe a mile of the 30(?) mile stretch of this. In the rest, it is a fence, or even a series of posts with cameras attached to them. But don't let the facts stand in the way of your opinion. Tacked onto this piece of Anti-Israeli legislation is rhetoric essentially saying that a nation desiring sovereignty has a right to gain that sovereignty however it wants. AKA, bombing Bar-Mitzvah's. Well, if they're allowed to bomb Israel, why can't Israel set up something to deter this? Now, don't let the fact that the borders around the rest of the country are already as strongly protected via similar fences stop anyone, either. All of a sudden there's a bit of wallish stuff and the world goes insane. If the world had its way, the Jews would be dead in a gutter and we could move on, Israel would be long gone to be replaced by some kind of tyrannical government (all 5 of its neighbors are kingdoms and/or dictatorships), and we'd all take a hike back to the 14th century. It is said we should bomb them back to the stone age, but frankly, they're already there. But a wall? I propose the following statement: the press blew things out of proportion. A shocking revelation, I know. But find me a country with completely fluid borders...as Israel had with the West Bank and look where it got them...that isn't the U.S. and Canada...oh wait, nevermind. Good heavens. On another note, I update much more in my livejournal. You should read that, and join that :).
